Paragliding in Nepal gives an opportunity for aerial view of the Himalayas. A trip will take you over some of the best scenery on earth, as you share airspace with Himalayan griffin vultures, eagles, kites and float over villages, monasteries, temples, lakes and jungle, with a fantastic view of the majestic Himalaya. Pokhara, the beautiful lakeside town at the foot of the Annapurna Mountains offers paragliding services. Best season is from October through April. There are various deals for the paragliding veterans and novices. Three-day introduction course is offered to beginners while tandem flights where one can fly with instructor are offered. Nepal forms a rectangle on the southern slopes of the Himalaya and is without exception, the most stunning country imaginable.

How fit do I need to be to do paragliding?

Paragliding is danger and exciting any activity has some inherent risk. Paragliding, as with any type of aviation or adventure sport. So any fit person can do this paragliding even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

What are the physical requirements and is there a weight limit?

Since the training classes offered are not very strenuous, practically every normal person can go for it. Normally it doesn’t require any extra physical strength or stamina, and it requires almost the similar effort needed for cycling or driving. There is no weight limit for paragliding, as long as we have enough wind. we have taken passengers as heavy as 350 lbs. so typically passengers are restricted to 175 lbs (80 kgs, 12 stone) or less.

How old do you have to be to paraglide?

There is no age limit for paragliding.You just should be able to do a little running; if you are under 18 years old you need your parents’ authorization However, we ask you to inform us if you are under 18 or over 60.

Can I bring along a camera?

Yes! The only requirement is that it must be secured to your person to prevent it falling in flight. cell camera phone is not allowed for this reason (Dropping things into someone’s picnic is a definite no-no!)

How fast does a paraglider go?

Powered paragliders usually fly between 15 to 50 mph (24 to 80 km/h) at altitudes from ‘foot-dragging on the water’ up about to 24,000 ft .most flying is done under 500 ft .

What should I wear paragliding?

Comfortable running/walking shoes.
Long sleeved windstopper top (if you are worried you might get cold), though usually a t-shirt is fine.
Long pants (mainly for protection in the event of a tumble).
Sun-block and hat.
