Dolpo is a high-altitude culturally Tibetan region in the upper part of the Dolpo district western Nepal, bordered in the north by China. it is  situated between the Tibetan plateau and Dhaulagiri ranges. Dolpo was opened to organized trekking groups. Dolpo trekking is popular trekking trail in Nepal Himalaya. Dolpo region trekking has two different options Upper Dolpo trekking & Lower Dolpo trekking. Lower Dolpo trekking is popular trekking in Dolpo region nature lovers and adventure seekers. Lower Dolpo trekking offer superb Himalayan views , beautiful landscape, luxuriant valleys , Buddhist monasteries and mixed Nepalese culture, high passes, beautiful Lakes, Blue sheep, Mountain Goat, Jackal, Wolf and the legendary Snow Leopard also it remains a truly isolated corner of Nepal.It passes through interesting places, local settlements, gigantic mountains and greenery forest of pines, Rhododendrons, Oaks etc. The main highlights of the trek is an ancients, spectacular landscapes, Trekking in Lower Dolpo present you the remarkable and worthwhile experience of lifetime. The people of this region mostly speak Tibetan languages. Rarely some people can understand Nepali language.

This trek is best to do in the summer and monsoon season. Winter seasons is avoided for this trek because of the heavy snowfall.

Day 1
Arrival and meet the guest and flight to Nepaljung

Arrival and meet the assist or welcome the guest .Board toward hotel and at Evening Flight towards Nepaljung. O/N at Nepaljung.

Day 2
Flight 30 min from Nepaljung to Juphal airport and Trek to Dunai.

By having the morning sunrise view move towards juphal by flight and trek start from juphal to Dunai. lunch en route, O/N at Dunai.

Day 3
Trek from Dunai to Khanigoan

After Breakfast the trek start from Dunai to Tarakot and move towards Khanigon by walking 7-8hrs.O/N at Khanigon..

Trek from Khanigoan to Chheur

Trek from Khanigoan with the sunrise view, culture and language of their community.

Day 5
Trek from Chheur to Sishul Khola

Trek start from Chheur to Sishul Khola with the view of great himalayan Peaks, Breathtaking landscape.by walking 6-7 hrs.

Day 6
Trek from Sishul Khola to Do Tarap

Early morning see the panoramic view of mountains and trek to Do Tarap.Lunch en route .Visit the buddhist monastries and remote vibrant. O/N at Do Tarap.

Trek from Do Tarap to Tok-khyu High Camp (4,390m) - 6 hrs

Trek for Tok khyu high base camp.O/N at high base camp.

Day 8
Trek from Tok-khyu High Camp to Pelungtang

Trek from Tok- Khyu high base camp tp Pelungtang.by walk 7- 8hrs.O/N at pelungtang.

Day 9
Trek from Pelungtang to Dajok Tang

Trek to Dajok Tang for walking 7-8 hrs .O/N at Dajokj Tang.

Day 10
Trek from Dajok Tang to Phoksundo Lake

Trek from Dajok Tang to Phoksundo and visit the shey phoksundo lake,by 6-7 hrs walk.Lunch enroute and O/N at Phoksundo.

Day 11
Trek from Phoksundo Lake to Chhepka

By the 6-7 hrs walk reach to Chhepka and study about their culture, language, religion and tradition of their community. O/N at Chhepak.

Day 12
Trek from Chhepka to Juphal

Trek from Chhepak to Juphal by the walking 7-8 hrs .lunch en route and have the O/N at Juphal.

Day 13
Flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj and Nepalgunj to Kathmandu.

Back to kathmandu and sightseeing of kathmandu O/N at kathmandu.

Day 14
Final Departure

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Dolpo trek is a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Dolpo trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude altitude ranges from 2500m to 5070m. This is the elevation of Dolpo trekking. Dolpo trekking is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Dolpo trekking?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What trekking equipment is needed when trekking in dolpo?

Heavyweight gloves or hat with a waterproof shell outer. Down vest and/or jacket (optional) Fleece or wool trousers/pants and sticks. Trekking/Hiking boots with spare laces.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for dolpo trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, dolpo trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season.
It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For dolpo, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
